The Grateful Dead are one of the most influential bands in the history of American music. Over their career they’ve represented many facets of social, political, and cultural emblems of America and have been a model of musical success unlike any other band. As 2015 marks their 50th anniversary, the four original members of the Grateful Dead, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, and Bob Weir have plans to celebrate in a big way.
On the upside, the bandmembers hint at more activity. And hey, 2015 marks the Grateful Dead’s 50th anniversary!
Instead of doing an album of duets, on “Shout!,” Gov’t Mule took a novel approach, removing Warren Haynes’ vocals from the record and replacing them with an all-star cast of singers like Dr. John, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Dave Matthews, Steve Winwood and Elvis Costello.
The 25th installment of Haynes’ Christmas concert, taking place December 13 and 14 at the US Cellular Center in Asheville, North Carolina, will feature Michael Franti, Haynes’ own band Gov’t Mule, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, OAR, the Phil Lesh Quintet and the John Scofield Uberjam Band, among others.
