ste 150 Diary Of An XRT InternStephen Sheffer
Hello, I am Stephen Sheffer, and I have the honor of being a web and music programming intern for the spring semester of 2013. I am currently a senior at Columbia College Chicago, where I major in news-reporting and writing. There I have written about current events, sports, music and movies. I am very passionate about music, and I have been listening to XRT since my freshman year of high school. My love for music started in middle school in my hometown, Mundelein, Illinois. Many kids in my class were talking about a new rap album that Eminem released. When my parents decided the CD was not appropriate for me, my Dad said I should give his music collection a shot. All it took were the first thirty seconds of “Voodoo Child” by Jimi Hendrix, and I was hooked… [Read My Diary]

118 Diary Of An XRT InternDan Shearer
Hey There, I’m Dan Shearer, a new face here at XRT. I just joined the ranks of the 2013 Spring XRT interns and I hope to make a splash with my contributions to the social media department. I’m currently a Junior at Columbia College Chicago where I’m studying Radio Broadcast. Columbia has presented me with an incredible amount of opportunities (Including this one) and I’ve never been so excited about having so little free time. I’m a writer and a humorist, which has proven to be a combination that has helped me in every endeavor I’ve approached which include hosting specialty shows on Columbia’s radio station WCRX, contributing essays to comedy sites, performing at open mic events, and podcasting. I’m from the suburb of Naperville but I’ve seen my life advance by leaps and bounds once… [Read My Diary]

29 Diary Of An XRT InternMoira Ryan
Hi there! My name is Moira, and I’m very excited to join XRT’s Promotions team for Winter/Spring 2013! I made the move to Chicago almost four years ago to study history, international studies, and musicology at Northwestern University. Chicago has given me a world-class education, countless opportunities, amazing friends, and to top it off, XRT. If asked to describe my perfect date, it might be April 25th, but it would most certainly involve windows down, Lakeshore Drive, and XRT. A native of Washington D.C., I unfortunately didn’t grow up with XRT, but I thank my rock ‘n’ roll-loving parents for… [Read My Diary]

Aside from attending classes at Columbia, I have be lucky enough to be involved in things that fulfill my passions, including co-hosting a local music show on Columbia’s radio station, WCRX, covering Chicago music festivals as well as international music festivals, recording and composing the musical scores for a dramatic radio series, and now the wonderful opportunity of interning at WXRT! Growing up, I was… [Read My Diary]

lauren02 Diary Of An XRT InternLauren Davis
Hey there, I’m Lauren Davis— born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. Unfortunately Nashville did not give me a southern accent or cowboy boots but it did give me a love for music because hey, it is Music City after all! I made the move to the Windy City to study film and writing at the School of the Art Institute. I’d been in Chicago 2 years and I have to admit that I was in the dark about 93XRT until I noticed they were sponsoring the Tama Impala concert I was attending (an awesome show by the way). From there… [Read My Diary]

janell 125 Diary Of An XRT InternJanell Nunziato
Hola! My name is Janell Nunziato and I am currently a sophomore Broadcast Journalism student at Columbia College Chicago. I also happen to be one of the newest spring ’13 interns for the Web and Music-Programming departments here at 93XRT! I am so excited for this opportunity to intern for one of Chicago’s oldest and most-loved radio stations! My very first experience within the radio world begins at Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal where I contributed to the News and Sports team for the student-run radio station, 103.3WZND. There, I hosted a weekly-news show where I reported on local news stories. This experience helped me realize how passionate I am about the radio industry… [Read My Diary]

dairy 1 Diary Of An XRT InternJon Torres
Hey, my name is Jon Torres and I am the newest addition to the promotions internship program at 93XRT. I couldn’t happier about this opportunity to be involved with the best radio station in Chicago. XRT has been in my life since my freshman year of high school. I owe so much of my knowledge about music to the station and without it, I wouldn’t be the devoted music listener that I am today. Mornings with Lin and Mary, Jason Thomas in the evenings, Terri Hemmert on Breakfast with the Beatles and (when it was around) the Grateful Dead hour on Sunday nights is what kept me a loyal listener. XRT is the soul of Chicago radio and will forever be important to Chicago culture… [Read My Diary]

154 Diary Of An XRT InternSean McEntee
Sean McEntee here. I’m a news writing intern for the morning show at XRT and a junior broadcast journalism student at Columbia College Chicago. Before moving to Chicago in July 2011, I was attending the University of Maryland, where I had my first experience in radio co-hosting an alternative rock show at WMUC 88.1 FM. Additionally, for the past two years I’ve worked as a writer, editor, social media manager and now editor in chief for LiveMusicGuide.com. The combination fostered my desire to tell stories with music, about music and for music. Receiving the opportunity to work and learn at WXRT is a godsend, and… [Read My Diary]
