Mayor Emanuel wants them to counteract the current use of overtime and the rising tide of gun violence. It'll cost about 134-million dollars to hire that many new officers; Johnson says he doesn't know how the mayor plans to pay that bill ... A protest against police brutality turned violent in Charlotte, North Carolina, where a black officer shot and killed a black man. 12 officers are injured ... they say the victim was armed and a threat; his family says he was holding a book ... Federal prosecutors in New York and New Jersey are filing charges against bombing suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami ... The Washington Post reports Donald Trump used money from his charitable organization to pay settlements for lawsuits against his for-profit businesses ... which would violate tax laws ...
