Last fall, Fitz and the Tantrums were kind enough to stop by The Blue Cross Blue Shield Stage to jam out and discuss some things with our own Marty Lennartz. The band talks about their beginnings, the energy they bring regardless of venue size, and not making another extension of their first album.
So, what was the first song they played when they got together? An improvised 12-bar blues was the pick, which was apparently not too glamorous. Rachel explained how she was making up lyrics as they went. Drummer Mike Calabrese seemed to sum up the band’s sentiment of their first jam by saying, “Yeah, it was very strange.”

After their highly successful debut album, Torches, Foster the People will be releasing their follow-up album this month titled Supermodel. The album, produced by Paul Epworth, who has produced albums for artists like Adele, Paul McCartney among others, will be released March 18th.
The band’s also going on tour, but good luck getting tickets to the already sold out show at the Riviera Theatre on May 16th. Marty Lennartz had the chance to discuss the new record with lead singer Mark Foster.
