Don’t forget to bring Toys and Books to XRT’s Holiday Concerts for the Kids!

We have a thing about traditions here at XRT – we like ’em. A lot. One of the best traditions we keep up with is our annual XRT Holiday Concerts for the Kids, where we collect toys and books for local Chicago Hospitals at XRT Shows throughout November and December.

The collection tables are always overflowing. When I was in Promotions here at the station, we would drive the XRT Van home from the show and hear all kinds of creepy toy noises going off in the trunk. Every time we turned a corner we were congratulated by Elmo. It was a small price to pay compared to the joy these toys bring the kids stuck in the hospital during the Holidays.

Here is a list of all of the XRT Holiday Concerts for the Kids left this season:

Thursday 12/1 – Rhett Miller at City Winery
Saturday 12/3 – Whitney at Thalia Hall
Sunday 12/11 through Wednesday 12/14 – Los Lobos at City Winery
Friday 12/16 – Twin Peaks at Thalia Hall
Sunday 12/18 – Shemekia Copeland at City Winery
Wednesday 12/21 through Friday 12/23 – Michael McDermott at City Winery
Wednesday 12/28 – Lucinda Williams at Space
Thursday 12/29 – Bodeans at Joe’s Live in Rosemont

The toys and books will go to the children at Rush University Medical Center, Comer Children’s Hospital, Central DuPage Hospital, The Children’s Hospital at Loyola University Medical Center, and La Rabida Children’s Hospital.

Brand new or gently used toys and books are appreciated. Please don’t wrap any of the gifts. And make sure to say hi to us DJs collecting the toys, and the gracious Hospital reps that also come out to help. See you out there!
