Typically, artists and bands tend to debut a lyric video before sharing a proper visual for each single they release, but Lukas Graham is going about things differently. Even though they already shared a full music video for “You’re Not There,” the group released an emotional lyric video for the song today. Be forewarned: You might want to pull out the tissues now.
As fans know, frontman Lukas Forchhammer wrote the song about his late father Eugene Graham, who passed away and left the artist bereft. The lyric video stitches together photographs of Graham throughout the years, beginning with Forchhammer’s early childhood and moving up to adulthood, but in every single picture Graham fades from view. His absence is a tangible loss.
The song’s lyrics flash at the bottom, and, combined with the photos, make the song even more sorrowful.
“You’re Not There” appears on the group’s self-titled debut, which fans can hear them perform in person. Lukas Graham will begin a 28-city tour today (November 29th) in Dallas, Texas, and wrap things up on February 1st in Wallingford, Connecticut. More information can be found at their website.
