Sting, Yes, THAT Sting Talks About His New Record, the England of His Youth, Brexit and More with Jason Thomas [Listen]

Sting has often been referred to in-house as an XRT “core artist.” What does that mean, exactly? Well, going back to his work with The Police and continuing through several of his solo releases, Sting has been an artist that the XRT audience has been a huge fan of, so we here at the station have been more than happy to never really let his records gather too much dust.

The Sting that most of us fell in love with early on was the frontman for a rock band, so you can imagine how delighted we were when we first laid ears on his new single “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You.” Sting talks about using the element of surprise in his music, and hearing a version of him that’s been laying dormant for several years is evidence of that. We talked about his decision to rock again, (his musical) The Last Ship, growing up in northeast England, and, of course, his favorite football club.
