Cubs Make Move (Kind Of), Bring Back Pitching Coach Phil Brickma

As the Cubs head into Game 3 against the Giants tonight, it seems like an odd time to make a move.

That’s because they haven’t, well, officially.

Actor Daniel Stern, perhaps better known around these parts as Phil Brickma, posted a video on his Facebook page announcing the Cubs are bringing him back as the pitching coach.

Stern’s role as Phil Brickma comes from the classic film Rookie Of The Year. In short, no, the Cubs haven’t replaced Chris Bosio. Nor has Phil Brickma ever been a pitching coach of the Cubs. Still, it provides some fantastic comic relief as the Cubs head into the big game tonight.

Let’s never forget this classic scene.
