I’m a bit of a snowboard junkie. Yes, the sport is probably one of my two favorite activities on Earth. While most people dread the onset of winter, I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum, constantly monitoring the weather out west, hoping for massive storms to dump feet of snow on the mountains so that I can slide down them. Most people go on vacation in the summer, but skiers and snowboarders save up the vacation days for December through March. The days can’t get short fast enough.
Now, being a snowboarder in Chicago isn’t ideal, but where there’s a will there’s a way. Burton has a flagship store here in town (55 E. Walton in the Gold Coast neighborhood) and it’s a wonderful place to hang out, look at gear, and talk snowboarding while counting down the days until your next trip. They’re dog-friendly too! They’ve just announced their latest collaboration, and it’s with Led Zeppelin. Yes, if you want a Zep snowboard, Burton has you covered. There are three different boards, all of the “Easy Livin” variety. If you crave a 152cm, then you’ll get some sweet Houses of the Holy graphics. If a 155 is your desire, then it’s Swan Song, and if you’re a 158 rider like myself, then Zeppelin IV is your jam. Of course, it’s a limited-edition line, so if you want to rep one of the greatest bands in the history of recorded music and pick up a solid all-mountain ride at the same time, get on it.
