CTU Sets Oct. 11 Strike Date – News With Mary Dixon

Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union have fewer than two weeks to work out a new contract … or teachers will walk off the job. The CTU’s House of Delegates has voted to set an October 11th strike date. Teachers have been working without a contract for more than a year and are arguing against pension givebacks and classroom cuts … UPDATE: The outbound Eisenhower was shutdown after a fatal shooting near Laramie … A second night of protests in a San Diego suburb … where police shot and killed a black man who turned out to be holding an e-cigarette … Dozens of protesters greeted Donald Trump on the Northwest Side and in Bolingbrook … Hillary Clinton will be at the Hyatt downtown for a fundraiser today … Congress has approved a temporary spending bill to keep the government running … and has over-ridden President Obama’s veto of a bill that allows 9-11 families to sue Saudi Arabia … The Cubs lost to the Pirates, but who cares? They’ve re-signed Theo, Jed and Jason! And the White Sox beat the Rays, but who cares? They reportedly want to re-sign Robin Ventura … Cloudy, windy and a chance of rain today with highs in the mid-60s.
