7 (More) Sites for Scoring New Vinyl Online

About three years ago, we posted the article, Top 7 Sites to Score Vinyl: A Guide to Finding the Cheapest Albums Online. After watching the vinyl industry take off with as much fervor and excitement as craft beer did five years ago, there is now a sea of amazing, fun, kitschy deals for finding new music via the interweb.

Nothing will ever beat heading to a new or favorite record store and fluttering through the dusty LP, on the hunt for that diamond in the rough. These sites simply offer another, fun way to find new music and steadily grow your collection. These funky few are nowhere near the entirety of that’s out there. At the end of the day, who doesn’t  love getting mail?

Your records should be uniquely you!

Here’s the deal, you create a profile telling them what kind of music and artists you enjoy, also syncing your Spotify, Soundcloud, etc. accounts.

You can use a “#vibe of the month” suggesting a mod or tone you’re looking for in a record. Examples they give: #BOYSDOCRY #LEAFMEALONE# LITUATION #SAVEDBYTHEBELL #LADYCRUSH #ELECTRICFEELZ #WILDANDFREE

(#LEAFMEALONE being my personal favorite.)

Then, get ready. Their “team of curators study your music tastes to hand-pick 3 new albums you will love. Make sure you’ve got your turntable ready for the amazing vinyl headed your way.”

They’re basically the matchmaker from Fiddler on the Roof, but for music. The ‘handcrafted’ cupid helping you find some music you’ll love (or maybe not, who knows. The gamble is what makes it exciting!)

A membership is $39 per month, plus free shipping. Right now they have an offer that if a subscriber refers a friend and the friend signs up, both parties receive $10. That’s a Five Guys burger and shake right there.

Turntable Kitchen: Pairing Boxes

A curated food and music discovery experience, delivered to your door.

Discover rising artists, enjoy an original menu, get to know unique ingredients and wow your friends with a playlist of the best new music each month. What you’ll get: an Exclusive 7” Vinyl, Digital Mixtape, 1-2 Premium Ingredients, 3 Seasonal Recipes, and Tasting Notes.

Join the club for $25 a month (plus additional fees and shipping costs), with one, three, and six month subscriptions available.

Musically, you’re going to get a little bit of everything. They’re progressive in that they ‘believe in the power of the album as an art form.”

Vinyl Me, Please is a record of the month club. Or in their words, “The best damn record club, in fact.” With a subscription you get “a special-edition vinyl delivered to your door complete with an album-inspired 12″ x 12″ art print and custom cocktail pairing recipe.” Bonuses like access to purchase from the vinyl Archives and weekly emails with new digital playlists.

Month to month subscriptions are $25, with discounts for three month and annual subscriptions. A boat load of additional perks and information can be found here.

Prescribed Vinyl: Monthly Prescription

“The goal of this record club is to get new & exciting music (that you may not have heard before) onto your turntable and of course give you that warm & fuzzy feeling that only vinyl can provide. We are constantly on the hunt for fresh sounds as well as instant classics from a myriad of genres. For us it’s an obsession, digging at local record shows, chasing down bands at dive bars, and scouring the digital universe for analog gold.”

Choose a category from Indie/Alt Rock, Funk/Soul, and Electronoica/Beats, or opt for The Monthly Rotation, and get enjoy selections from all three!

They send an email to you a week before delivery “detailing that month’s selection and allowing you to get more info on the artist, listen to tracks from the album and salivate over a few videos.” Not a fan of this month’s selection? Not a problem.” They also offer the FlexRx option, which will let you replace the monthly vinyl with any in stock LP (under $27), so long as you notify them before the 15th of the month. Easy peasy.

Membership is $27 per month or $23 per month with an annual contract.

The Vinyl Den

Vinyl Den is a monthly vinyl subscription from Dualtone Records which includes all of Dualtone’s new releases & reissues. The label is home to artists such as The Lumineers, Shakey Graves, and Delta Spirit. Staff picks from non-Dualtone artists are also included. Past picks include Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Tallest Man on Earth, Strand of Oaks, Dawes, and Bruce Springsteen.

Monthly membership is $25 per month with 3, 6, and 12 month subscriptions available. One LP per month and plenty of membership perks along with it.

Vinyl Moon

This LA based record of the month club is truly unique. Each month you will receive a custom monthly vinyl “mix tape” pressed on bright colored vinyl, with record jacket designed by amazing visual artists. They’re in their twelfth month and send a limited number of records each run. Music will come from every genre except metal, country, or classical. They’re pretty tight lipped about past releases, so this one is definitely for the gambler.

Membership is available in 1, 3, 6, and 12 month plans for around $30.

Spinbox

Spinbox is a straight to the point, dealer’s choice record of the month club. You pick the genres you like, ranging from Reggae to Americana to Alt Country to Metal (I could go on). Then, their team hand picks the best selection for you and sends you a record once a month. According to their Instagram account, past records have included Adele’s 25, The Darjeeling Limited Soundtrack, Arcade Fire’s Suburbs, and The National’s Boxer.

Membership is $29 per month for one album and $54 per month for two.
