Hooooo boy this is going to cause a frenzy!
The Daily Meal released its list of the 101 best pizzas in America and Chicago pizza’s are few and far between.
The highest ranking a Chicago pizza achieved on this list was Pequod’s deep dish pizza at #24. A total of eight Chicago pizza’s were represented on its list.
Taking the number one spot is Brooklyn’s Di Fara’s Classic Round Pie. The pizza is a combination of mozzarella, parmesan, plum tomato sauce, basil, olive oil, sausage, peppers, mushroom and onion.
For what it’s worth, The Daily Meal is based out of New York City, so we have a hunch it may be a tad biased.
Here’s where Chicago pizza’s stacked up.
#24: Pequod’s Deep Dish with sausage and pepperoni
#28 Coalfire margherita pizza
#33: Gino’s East Cheese Deep Dish
#34 Piece pepperoni and banana pepper pizza
#43: Giordano’s Classic Deep Dish topped with mushrooms, green peppers and onions
