If you are looking for something unusually cool to check out this Sunday evening I have the perfect solution for you! How about sipping Malort at one of the most laid back yet sophisticated joints in the city while watching old school jazz singing vamped up to the ooh la la notch. Jen Cetera presents “TWO” every fourth Sunday from 7-9pm at High-Hat Club on Irving Park Road. A new cocktail and entertainment establishment that has some wildly talented and interesting musicians come through to perform. High-Hat is owned by a longtime bartender at The Green Mill, and occupies the previously famous Katerina’s Jazz club.
This month’s “TWO” August 28th features an awesome organ player named Jamie Newman. Sip Malort and watch some unusually beautiful torch singing by Jen Cetera. The show is called “TWO” is an “ever changing two man jazz show for people who hate Jazz” according to Jen. Jen is the constant is the cast of “TWO”. Her voice is haunting and unusually beautiful. The voice that persuades you come out in the pouring rain to see a show, which is exactly what I did last month. Jen says “The basic idea of the show is that it’s just two of us on stage, creating vulnerability and intimacy, and I pick somebody new to work with each month. It stretches both of us as musicians and let’s me make new music friends/have fun with the audience. Gosh, I love helping people have a good time… This month Sunday August 28th features an awesome organ player named Jamie Newman. Ooooh, we are going to swing and vamp until we are all worn out. I’m excited about it, if you can’t tell.
Jen’s past “TWO” shows were with Jason Miller on 6/26. A Jazz guitarist, composer, who performs with Le Percolateur and has a new record coming out soon. And on 7/24/16 “Two” featured Carl Kennedy a modern Jazz/classically trained pianist. For Facebook Event or to view poster.
