Frances Bean Cobain Makes Her Musical Debut

By Amanda Wicks

For her musical debut, Frances Bean Cobain didn’t take a page out of her father Kurt Cobain’t notebook. Instead, she flashed back to the early aughts and Jimmy Eat World.

Frances snapped a very brief video of herself playing “The Middle” on acoustic guitar, and her mom Courtney Love couldn’t help but boast about it. On Instagram, Love shared the video, writing, “I know your father is very proud of this as am I baby, I love you to the moon and back #proudmommyRePost: from @space_witch666 – Fred Flinststone sings 4 seconds of The Middle by Jimmy Eat World.”

The song choice may have been an apt one for the 23-year-old, who filed for divorce from her husband Isaiah Silva in March after 21 months of marriage (via People). She’ll be going to court to ensure Silva doesn’t get any part of her father’s estate, which is reportedly worth $450 million. Frances is also battling her soon to be ex-husband over the acoustic guitar her father played at MTV Unplugged. She reportedly gifted him with the instrument, but now wants it back.

Jimmy Eat World’s chorus in “The Middle” is like a gentle reminder. “It just takes some time/ Little girl, you’re in the middle of the ride/ Everything, everything will be just fine/ Everything, everything will be all right.”
