Matt Shultz Of Cage The Elephant Has Become A Chicago Staple

Though Cage the Elephant are absent from this year’s Lollapalooza lineup, a festival they have played several times in the past, that didn’t stop them from showing up anyway. “As always, you look up and suddenly there’s Matt Shultz of Cage the Elephant, because you just love festivals,” Marty Lennartz said.

“That’s right,” Shultz said. “There’s two things you have in Chicago, the Cubs and then me.” Lennartz pointed out he has also seen the Schultz at Bonnaroo, to which he said, “I love music, can’t stay away.”

The two also discussed Cages’s most recent Chicago show a couple months back, and as Lennartz praised the band’s solid performance, Shultz replied without hesitation, “Well this is Chicago, we love it here,” he said. “It feels very natural.”
