Sorry if I blew up your social media feeds on Saturday. I took over XRT’s Instagram and Twitter accounts to document my Record Store Day. See below for pics of the fun times and the cool scores. What were your finds this weekend? Connect with me on Facebook and Twitter and on Instagram and let me know! Let’s make shopping at local, independent, and family-owned record stores a regular thing!
It started with waking up to the best alarm ever.
Then a Facebook event reminder to get to Val’s Halla.
Then a quick stop at Oak Park Records. Alan, the owner, and his family bake chocolate chip cookies every year. It’s a form of bribery I’m totally okay with.
Had to hit up The Old School Records in Forest Park for a few odds and ends.
Then I ran into Bob Roberts from Newsradio 780 digging through crates. We talked about music, turntables, and vinyl’s resurgence.
Then, of course, I had to play some of the new records! Wild Belle Dreamland came out one day before Record Store Day and it was already sold out at the first two record stores I visited. Third time’s a charm! Scooped up an original pressing of Cream’s Wheels of Fire, too. I kinda nerded out on that.
