“We Ate Chili Dogs Dressed In Tuxedos With Anthony Mason” Jason Isbell Reflects On His Grammys Experience

Jason Isbell performed a Live From Studio X set from Subterranean this past Saturday. Just a few days removed from winning two Grammy Awards, Isbell spoke about the experience and some rather odd encounters he had at the event.

For Isbell, he wasn’t lost in the crowd. In fact, he felt quite at home. “It was so much fun to go out and see people I know from places other than the Grammys,” Isbell said.

He added, “You took the Christmas Party from Fame Studios at Muscle Shoals and put everybody in a big spot of seats at the Grammys. It was a lot of fun.”

Even for a Grammy winner, a gourmet buffet wasn’t awaiting him. Still, it worked out for the best as he was able to have a chance encounter with a CBS News correspondent. “We ate chili dogs dressed in tuxedos with Anthony Mason. We went out in line and got some chili dogs and we sat down to eat them and up comes Anthony Mason in a tuxedo with a chili dog so we sat down and had our own CBS Sunday Morning party right there.”

Isbell’s phone and social media pages were predictably filled with congratulations after his victory. One congratulatory message stands out to him though. “I got one from Patrick Stewart on Twitter which was pretty nice,” Isbell said.
