Twangy. That’s the word to describe this Sunday night’s Local Anesthetic of New Chicago Music. As circumstances would have it, I’ve got not one but two deeply-steeped-in-country artists to mix in; both the Gin Palace Jesters and Michael Monroe (as in “Bill”) Goodman have new sides to spin. I’m good with that. Modern country, they ain’t. Speaking of which (but not really), I didn’t get a copy of Cold Country‘s spring release Willow but that error has been corrected with the arrival in my digital mailbox of their very nice Fall EP. The 9-piece r&b/hard soul outfit, The Congregation, have a new platter, too. I’ll give you a preview of their Record Collection this Sunday night. There’s something awfully swell about the new Santah record, Chico. So much so that they’ll be my guest on Anesthetic next week. My guests on last Sunday’s show, The Glass Eyes, turned us on to This is Lorelei. I dug a little deeper into their catalog and found a tune, “Holo Gaze”, that’s the coolest thing I’ve heard since Before and After Science, I swear. And…time for one more tune the likes of which I’m still not certain. Hope to have you on board for this show of primo new Chicago music on Local Anesthetic this Sunday night at 7:30 here on XRT. Plus, info on the upcoming Holiday Spectacular, of course!
