The Big Beat: April 21, 2014 [Playlist]
The Big Beat is Chicago Radio’s premiere program for modern sounds from artists both domestic and abroad. It’s the kind of music that flies just under the radar of the mainstream.
Hosted by XRT’s Marty Lennartz, tune in each week to hear “what’s next” in Chicago’s Finest Rock.
Pink Mountaintops is the brainchild of Stephen McBean of the Vancouver psych rock collective known as Black Mountain.
Side project, spin-off or revolving cast of likeminded characters, including J. Mascis and members of Dead Meadow, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Fall and Cat Power, Pink Mountaintops will release Get Back on 4/29.
Whatever snappy rock critic identifier you want to use, the words “rock record” probably fits just as nicely.
The lead track is called “Ambulance City” and is this week’s Big Beat Song of The Week
