On March 31st we announced on Blues Breakers the complete line-up for the 31st Annual Chicago Blues Festival set for June 13 through June 15 in Grant Park, Chicago’s front yard. It’s a free festival, in fact it’s the largest free blues festival in the world, running from 11:00 am to 9:30 pm each of the three days.

Headlining on Friday will be the Grammy winning, fiddle and banjo playing trio from North Carolina, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, the hypnotic-rhythmic story-telling blues of Colorado’s Otis Taylor Band and a tribute to John Lee “Sonny Boy” Williamson (“Good Morning Little Schoolgirl) featuring Billy Boy Arnold, The Siegel-Schwall Blues Band with Sam Lay, Rolo Radford, Marcella Detroit, Billy Branch and Omar Coleman.

Saturday, June 14, Bettye LaVette, a fifty year veteran blues singer with a powerful live act will be the evening’s headliner. Also on the Petrillo stage on Saturday will be Willie Clayton, a mainstay of the Chicago blues scene of the 70’s and 80’s who recently released the album, I Am Rhythm And Blues. And opening on Saturday evening at 6:00 pm will be soulful singing Chicago bluesman Theo Huff.

Sunday on the Petrillo evening stage begins with a Blues Fest debut by the exciting performer, Nikki Hill, who sings a bluesy mix of rock and roll, rockabilly and R&B with a great band that includes her husband on guitar.  Then comes New Orleans crooner, Aaron Neville followed by headliner, Dr. John.

Here’s the complete line-up:
