Todd Rundgren has a dream. The Spirit Of Harmony Foundation is his dream come true. Todd says, “The purpose of the Spirit of Harmony Foundation is to provide support and funding to school programs and other organizations trying to bring music to people who don’t have it, especially in terms of learning how to play instruments, learning how to understand what music is all about, and having the opportunity to express yourself through that medium.” Todd, like a lot of us, is concerned with the cut backs of arts programs in schools. Todd knows from personal experience that arts training helps kids learn about themselves and how to works with other people.
Todd was inspired by a group of his fans that raised $15,000 to support the Youth Orchestra of the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans. The foundation will be involved with fundraising, special events, mentoring, and looking for ways to promote the importance of music in the lives of these kids. It keeps the kids involved with their education, teaches them all kinds of life lessons, and connects them to other kids and the community. Music, the arts, really does that. It’s not a pie-in-the-sky dream. It changes lives. I’ve seen it happen. So has Todd.

Even Ringo Starr and the All Star Band have something to say about this.
