The folks over at Uncut Magazine had the opportunity to talk with the 3 original, surviving members of the kinks, Ray Davies, Dave Davies, and Mick Avory for their latest issue. Ray and his brother, Dave, met up this last August and discussed the possibility of coming back together for a 50th anniversary reunion. “I said to Ray, I thought it’d be a great shame if we don’t try and do something,” said Dave.
All three feel pretty positive about the potential of rejoining. “It’s as close as it’s ever been to happening,” says Ray Davies. If they do decide to have this reunion, they better start getting back together soon because “we haven’t played together for god knows how long,” says Mick Avory “we’d have to knock our heads together and rehearse if we meant to do it properly.”
We won’t know if it’s going to happen until it happens. According to NME, Ray said “I’d like something good to come out of it, not something sad… I’d like to do something sensible, artistic and dignified. There’s every possibility it could happen, if people behave. Or misbehave at the appropriate moment.” The only things we can do now are wait patiently and see what Ray, Dave, and Mick decide to do
