We’ve cultivated an archive of rare recordings from in-studio performances and standout concert broadcasts that is second to none. WXRT is proud to offer Chicago music fans the latest compilation in this historic series, ONXRT: Live From the Archives, Volume 15. ONXRT: Live From the Archives, Volume 15 features live performances by Dave Matthews Band, The Lumineers, Jimmy Cliff, The National, The Postal Service, Passion Pit, Jim James and more.
Because these performances took place in the intimate surroundings of the XRT air studio or local concert venues, listeners can experience a unique context for some of their favorite artists’ work.
Oxfam America is a global organization working to right the wrongs of poverty, hunger, and injustice. They save lives, develop long-term solutions to poverty, and campaign for social change. As one of 17 members of the international Oxfam confederation, they work with people in more than 90 countries to create lasting solutions. The Chicago Oxfam Action Corps is Oxfam’s local group which engages Chicagoans whom are interested in joining the fight against hunger and poverty, and whom advocate directly on Oxfam’s behalf to Illinois lawmakers. Oxfam America has been active in the United States since 1970, and the Chicago Oxfam Action Corps have been in existence since 2008. The vision: A just world without poverty. The mission: To create lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and social injustice.
The mission of Cure Violence is to reduce violence globally using disease control and behavior change methods. Cure Violence began operations in Chicago in 2000 under the CeaseFire name. Its proven health approach to urban street violence is now being replicated and adapted in more than 25 U.S. cities and 8 countries.
ONXRT: Live From the Archives, Volume 15 is scheduled for release on Tuesday, December 3 as a limited edition CD exclusively at Chicago area Target stores and Target.com for $13.99. Previous editions of “ONXRT” have sold out very quickly and are now virtually unavailable, having become highly-prized collectors’ items upon their release.
