Summer nights, summer warmth, summer sounds. Beginning May 27th – July 29th, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events will present Downtown Sound: New Music Mondays.
Los Angeles folk rock group, Dawes, is included in Chicago’s Downtown Sound of the free summer night concert series. Named supposedly after a fictious person/a combination of the founding members and best friend’s middle names, “Simon Dawes”, the group has had a handful of different band members swapped in and out and finally went with the current incarnation, Dawes. Known for their energetic performances and a 1970’s folk-vibe, they’ve performed various concerts in Chicago including the METRO na Reggie’s and had a set at Lollapalooza last year. Recently, Dawes released their third studio album Stories Don’t End.
What could be better than hanging out with friends, soaking in the long awaited summer warmth, cracking open some beer, and kicking back and listening to great, free music under Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park
Catch Dawes accompanied by The Cairo Gang on Monday, July 8th @ 6:30 p.m for Downtown Sound.
