Given the elusiveness of warmer weather, Cayucas’s new song, “High School Lover” is a fitting substitute. The track is filled with uplifting vocals and warm guitar sounds that will instantly make you want to break into your go-to dance. “High School Lover” is from the band’s much anticipated debut album, Big Foot set to be released April 30th. The eight-track album was produced by Richard Swift who has also recorded with groups such as The Shins and Foxygen.
The frontman, Zack Yudin talked about the forthcoming album in a DeadJournalist.com article, “I was using old rock albums – by bands like the Beach Boys, the Tornadoes, the Animals – trying to put together these quirky little songs. We spent a lot of time re-imagining the old samples with live instrumentation, organs and so on; the samples ended up acting as inspirational starting points.”
After listening to other tracks off the album including, “Cayucos” and “A Summer Thing”, it is evident that there is a deep 60’s influence. The group played a few SXSW shows and will soon embark on tour in Europe this summer.
