I bet you didn’t think you would read about Nine Inch Nails and the song “Call Me Maybe” in the same story today. As surprising as it sounds, the user on Soundcloud, PomDeterrific, has synced the vocals of Trent Reznor with the song made famous by Carly Rae Jepsen. As if that wasn’t enough, the vocals are from the Nine Inch Nails song “Head Like A Hole”, from the Pretty Hate Machine album in 1989.
With that being said, mash-up track somehow works. Reznor’s lyrics of wanting rather to die than giving someone control of his life for some reason fit with the enthusiastic pop beats of “Call Me Maybe”. His voice and angst brings the song to a different level, and it is certainly worth a listen. You can hear how opposites attract by clicking below. You can also hear Reznor play with Dave Grohl on the soundtrack for the documentary, Sound City.
