WXRT correspondent Kara Intrieri files this report after being inspired by the newest Muse last night:
What brought Chicagoans to the United Center Monday night? Not the return of Derrick Rose or yet another Blackhawks win, but British rock trio Muse. Muse brought their driving, fist pump inducing music, complete with stunning laser light show (they warned you at the door!) Front man Matt Bellamy pleased the crowd with many selections from their latest, The 2nd Law, and numerous fan favorites, even giving a shout out to the Blackhawks. Bellamy also dropped to his knees and performed a Jimi Hendrix-esque rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. A giant video faced pyramid descended from the ceiling and proceeded to change shapes and invert itself throughout the show. Even obstructed view seats were pleased with a rotating drum set. As impressed as I was with their 2011 Lolla performance, the full concert experience is a must see.
