Guitarist and Lead singer of the Grammy-winning Alabama Shakes, Brittany Howard, took some time off from the band that placed first in the best-song category of the 2012 XRT Listener poll to record a solo single. Howard worked with singer, Ruby Amanfu, on a cover of the song “I Wonder” by the musician known as Rodriguez. Rodriguez was the subject of the recent Oscar-winning documentary, “Searching For Sugar Man”.

Also available on the single is an acoustic cover of the Memphis Minnie song, “When My Man Comes Home”. In terms of who will release the single, Brittany has teamed up with the label founded by Jack White, Third Man Records. The single will be released on March 12th, but you can pre-order it below.

As for the Shakes, they are currently touring and have been rumored to play at Lollapalooza this August.

Pre-order the single here.
