New World Ancients
From the New World Ancients website: “When was the last time your music beat you up, said it was sorry, bit your neck, gave you a noogie, laughed with you, gave you a backrub, got you high, slapped your face, walked away, came back and gave you a most satisfying bear hug ever, all within one hour? It’s rock music for the thinking man, for the drinking man, and for the thinking, drinking man.” That says so much without saying anything at all. Once you hear the actual record, Temporal Beast, it’ll become clearer but still be imbued with murky charm. My two cents? I haven’t heard a record this oddly accomplished in years. Good to know it’s still possible to be intrigued by the mystery of music and those that create it. Join me for music and conversation with New World Ancients on this week’s Local Anesthetic, Sunday night at 7:30, here on XRT.
