Wanna play guitar like Eric Clapton? Good luck with that! You could play a guitar like Eric Clapton’s. Beginning March 21st, the Guitar Center will be selling the Eric Clapton Crossroads Collection, a limited edition series of some of Eric’s favorite guitars. The collection is named for his guitar festival, which is named for a Cream song which is a cover of a Robert Johnson song.
Eric recently sat for an interview where he tells some stories about these iconic guitars. B.B. King had Lucille, and Eric had Lucy. A Gibson named Lucy. Eric and George Harrison shared a wife, not at the same time, and shared this guitar. That’s quite a friendship.
Clapton can go unplugged as well. He’s especially fond of the Martin.
Then there’s the Fender Stratocaster, “Brownie”. Lucy. Lucille. Brownie. It’s like these guitars have a heart and soul. Maybe that’s not a stretch to the guitarist.
