Dr. John’s Locked Down exposed the New Orleans legend to a new audience, and much of that was due to the album’s producer: Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Tonight it took home the GRAMMY for Best Blues Album.
Typically brief, Dr. John said “I just want to thank all of y’all.” It was his sixth GRAMMY, and his first since winning Best Contemporary Blues Album for The City That Care Forgot in 2008.
Auerbach accepted with him, and he later won Producer Of The Year. Besides Locked Down, Auerbach also co-produced the Black Keys’ El Camino, which won two awards during the pre-tel.
Dr. John is scheduled to perform with The Black Keys during the televised GRAMMY show, which begins on CBS at 8 pm ET.
