Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Peter Asher last night at the Old Town School Of Folk Music. I saw this program on the 60′s and beyond a couple of years ago at the Fest For Beatles fans, but it was great to see it again. I always get choked up when he sings the Peter & Gordon classic True Love Ways with a film of his late musical partner, Gordon Waller. But there are lots of laughs as well, and one of Peter’s enduring qualities is his ability to laugh at himself. He shared the story of how TMZ ran a story about Peter being the inspiration for the character Austin Powers. They report. You decide. What do you think?
And here is an extra treat from Peter. He recently unearthed the demo Paul made of P&G’s first hit (#1 here and in the UK), A World Without Love. Paul had not yet written the bridge so it’s short. Just enough that Peter and Gordon could learn the melody.
