Last June on the day before the Chicago Blues Festival began in Grant Park we presented our annual Blues Breakers Blues Fest Broadcast from Buddy Guy’s Legends with co-host Shemekia Copeland and starring Ronnie Baker Brooks and Joe Louis Walker with special guest Billy Branch and a surprise drop-in by Lonnie Brooks. . Let’s check in and see what they’re all up to this week.
On Monday, Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie Baker Brooks and Buddy Guy performed at an inauguration ball in Washington, DC hosted by Mayor Emanuel.
This week both Shemekia Copeland and Joe Louis Walker are spending time on Mustique, a private Caribbean island at the invitation of Mick Jagger.
Billy Branch is here in Chicago but we don’t feel too sorry for him as he recently returned from an extended tour in Turkey.
You can catch Billy this Saturday playing with Devon Allman at Reggie’s. Devon, the son of Gregg Allman, will be part of a very interesting dinner and show event. Visit the Reggie’s website for details.
By the way, The Chicago Blues Festival this year will begin the evening of Thursday, June 6, and continue all day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 7, 8 & 9. Will we be dong another Blues Fest Broadcast? Stay tuned.
