Did I ever tell you about the first time I saw Jeff Garlin? In the early 90′s Jeff was performing a one man show called “I Want Someone To Eat Cheese With” at Second City. On a tip from some friends at Second City, I checked it out and raved about it on the XRT Morning Show. Over the years I’d run into Jeff at some event or other and he was always very appreciative about XRT’s support.
He was the sort of guy you root for. So when I saw him in a recurring role in Mad About You as Ira’s assistant in the family, I thought that was pretty cool. Little did we know at the time he was about to embark on comedic excursion with Larry David, who was known at the time as the creator of Seinfeld. There was a mockumentary about Larry David making a return to stand-up and Jeff Garlin was cast as his manager. This one show morphed into a televison classic called Curb Your Enthusiasm. Jeff is currently at The Steppenwolf Upstairs Theater performing Closer Than I Appear. He returns to XRT this morning at 8:30 after an appearance last April at the XRT Opening Day Broadcast. We’re going to let him set at the helm of the starship XRT and steer us into the interstellar places of Wednesday morning.
