When most people think of Christmas, they think of Santa Claus, Family, Christmas cookies and presents, and other traditional, Holiday fun. When Wayne Coyne thinks of Christmas, he thinks of Aliens. Aliens on Mars to be exact. And there you have it: Wayne Coyne is not most people.
This year marks the 4th year since the release of The Flaming Lips Christmas Movie: Christmas On Mars. The science-fiction film features the entire cast of The Flaming Lips, as well as Steve Burns (Steve from Nickelodeon’s Blues Clues), Adam Goldberg (Dazed and Confused, Entourage, and guest appearances on most sitcoms), and Fred Armisen (SNL and Portlandia).

The Flaming Lips’ Front man Wayne Coyne also serves as the Writer, Director, and “The Alien Super-Being.” The instant cult-classic follows the story of Major Syrtis (Lips’ Instrumentalist Steven Drozd) during the first very Christmas on a newly-colonized Mars. Most of the scenes were filmed in sets in Wayne’s Oklahoma City house as well as places around Oklahoma City like old industrial facilities.
