There was only room for 20,000 individuals to witness the reunion and possibly last performance by Led Zeppelin. With over one million requests for tickets, it was a once in a lifetime event in the truest sense.
After briefly being shown in theaters in October, Celebration Day was released last week on CD/DVD/Blu Ray and as a digital download. It commemorates the band’s performance at London’s O2 Arena as part of the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert. With Jason Bonham filling in on drums, it was the first time since 1980 the group performed a full length concert. With a total run time of just over two hours, critics have proclaimed the show to be a celebration of rock and roll and prove why Led Zeppelin is the best rock and roll band of all time.
Pierre Robert reflects on one of the most anticipated and iconic rock and roll performances in history. His interviews with founding members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones provide an intimate insight into the experiences leading up to the show, the performance itself, and the aftermath of the concert.
