Ronnie Baker Brooks and Big head Todd. I always recommend seeing a Ronnie Baker Brooks show, whenever wherever. This is a man born into the blues. It’s in his family tree. But tonight it’s going to be something different. Ronnie Baker Brooks and Todd Park Mohr at FitzGerald’s! I’m not telling you about two different shows on two different nights, or even an early act and a late act. This show will be tonight with Ronnie Baker Brooks and his band with special guest Todd Park Mohr, aka Big Head Todd. As the press release tells us, “Blues artist Ronnie Baker Brooks first met Big Head Todd (Todd Park Mohr) back in the early ‘90s. Over the years, they would occasionally talk and jam but didn’t really hook up again until earlier this year at a Hubert Sumlin tribute concert at the Apollo Theatre in New York. Since then they’ve written a song together for Brooks’ next record and made the decision to “play some gigs.”
One of the first of these shows is set for FitzGerald’s. “Todd is a big blues fan,” Brooks says. “So we’re going to jam and have some fun.” Those who attended FitzGerald’s Hubert Sumlin tribute last December will recall Mohr spent much of the evening onstage performing with a long list of Chicago blues artists.”
Ronnie Baker Brooks and his band, with special guest Big Head Todd, will perform two sets beginning at 9 p.m., Saturday, at FitzGerald’s, 6615 W. Roosevelt.
This is a not-to-be-missed show. I’ll look for you there.
