This is my kind of eating. We will soon be getting more details on the Michelin Star rated restaurants in Chicago, but recently the Bib Gourmand awards were announced. According to the press release from Michelin these restaurants are both considered a good value (two course and a glass of wine for under $40) and are the sort of places the Michelin critics themselves would choose to eat. I don’t dress up very easily, I don’t like tiny little bits of a lot of different foods, and I don’t like to spend a lot of money unless on a very special occasion, so these are my kind of places. You might be like me and have enjoyed a meal at a few of these spots but are excited to know of so many more that you have not yet been to. I’ve had excellent burritos at De Colores and some of the best BBQ at Smoque, but if I had a larger budget and wanted an even larger belly, I’d get to “work” and try to check off as many of the joints on this list as I could, beginning with Antique Taco, Belly Shack, Publican and Twin Anchors (Why have I never been here?). What are your favorites?

On a side note, I wish this list included more specific info on where the suburban spots are located.
