John Mayer first headlined a show in Chicago at The House of Blues in June of 2001 in an XRT show. I was the emcee. When I uttered his name, it sounded like The Beatles were being introduced in 1964. Over the years John has been interviewed on XRT several times. He even headlined the XRT Free Fourth of July Concert one year.
In 2006 John Mayer agreed to perform Live From Studio X, a format that allowed for some conversation among the songs. Mayer has always been a great musician to interview. Why? He’s never been afraid to say what’s on his mind. And his temperament is always extremely pleasant. Here he is. Live from Studio X.
