Ryan Bingham Goes Electric On “Tomorrowland”
Ryan Bingham has been turning it up to 11 lately. The Grammy, Golden Globe and Oscar-winning singer/songwriter is well-known for quiet, acoustic based music (such as “The Weary Kind” — his award-winning song from the 2009 film Crazy Heart ) but on his new album Tomorrowland, he’s cranking it up.
He tells CBS Local that there’s a practical reason why he’s “gone electric.” After he finished his last tour, for the first time he had his own house, and time to spend in it. Up until then, he’d always stayed with other people, so he played mainly acoustic guitars, so as not to disturb anyone. Nowadays, he finally has a bunch of electric guitars, amps and pedals, and room to play them without bothering any bystanders. So, he geeked out with his new gear.
Bingham will be turning it up at clubs across the country starting September 25 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. See the full list of dates here. Tomorrowland is out now.
