Lin explores the phenomenon of high school popularity and answers the question, “who decides who the cool kids are?” What is it that separates the popular kids from the nerds at lunch? Why are these unwritten rules so rigid and timeless, and how exactly are they determined?

The high school lunch room is a terrifying place that separates the included from the excluded, but is high school the only place this ranking system exsists? Sadly, no. So, is it even worth abiding by? That one’s up to you. If there’s one thing you can take comfort in, it’s this: there are more of us nerds than there are of them.
