One of our favorite singer-songwriters returns this Fall with his 21st studio album, ‘Mystic Pinball.’ Hiatt has been making and recording music since the early 1970’s, recording solo tunes and collaborations throughout his early years, he has been recording music for more than 30 years. However with not much success in the beginning, Hiatt would continue you record and create new music, jumping from different record labels and working with lots of different people.
When not getting much success in America, Hiatt started getting a small following in Europe shortly after he played a show in Amsterdam. Throughout his long career, Hiatt hadn’t had much traditional success and would be constantly dropped from labels because of “non-charting” songs and albums. In 2000 he won the Nashville Music Awards’ Songwriter/Artist of the Year and in 2008 the American Music Association awarded him with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting.
John Hiatt has given us a first taste of the album with the bluesy “We’re Alright Now.” Check out the song below and keep an ear to XRT for more of what’s to come from the new album.
