Betty Hemmert
Terri Hemmert’s mother, Betty, passed away on August 12th at the age of 89.
As a mom, as a mentor, as a member of the community, Betty Hemmert made a huge impact on so many people’s lives. As a music educator for almost seventy years, she spent her life devoted to providing her students with skills and sensibilities that she highly valued. And a set of moral and artistic standards that were also passed down to her family. Chicagoans, of course, are most familiar with her daughter, Terri, the celebrated and much beloved WXRT DJ, whose commitment to her community is a matter of record.
Consistent with Betty’s love of music, and her passion for educating generations of musicians, Terri Hemmert and Rock for Kids have established a special fund to aid Chicago area students who may lack the financial resources to pursue their interest in music. For only $50, you can help sponsor a student’s music education.
Contribute whatever you can afford to the memory of Terri’s mother, the Betty Hemmert Music Scholarship Fund at Rock for Kids. [CLICK HERE TO DONATE]
