Norah Jones’ music video “Miriam” is no pleasant evening on the rowboat. For those young males who have already seen the video, heed the warning to not cheat on Norah Jones for she will put you in your place, and your mistress under water.
Underlying the gorgeous rhythm and soothing tone of her lyrics is the disturbing and semi-psycho tendencies one may feel when betrayed and cheated on. Despite donning a pretty red summer dress and maintaining her innocent stature, one can’t help but feel uneasy about the way Norah sings about getting some revenge.
Now, think of the same song on a sunny day, swaying your shoulders back and forth as you attempt to dance to the more pop-rock based beat. Peter Bjorn & John recently released their own remix to Miriam, suggesting a pleasantly poppy tone that will have you wanting to move around rather than sit in question of Jones’ not-so-innocent pretty face.
