Jason Thomas began his radio career at one of the country’s foremost modern rock stations, Live 105 (KITS) in San Francisco. OK, so his first job was answering the request line, tallying up the day’s requests for a nightly feature called, “Most Wanted,” but he was soon wowing the insomniacs of the Bay Area with his nervous, shaky voice in the high profile 3am-6am Sunday morning time slot. Once he figured out who Pulp, Wire, and The Jesus and Mary Chain were, he was eventually allowed to talk to people during slightly more accessible hours. These extra shifts enabled him to scrape together some demo tapes that would sufficiently impress station bosses leading to brief on-air stints in Sacramento, Portland, and Phoenix, prior to being hired at WXRT.
Jason’s first show on XRT was July 28, 2006.
