After almost a two year wait, Matt & Kim are finally back with a new original single as part of the beginning of the release of their fourth album, Lightning, set to be released in the fall. Their new song “Let’s Go” is the first of many to be released over the summer in anticipation of the album drop.
This dance punk duo, featuring Matt Johnson with vocals and keyboard and Kim Schifino with vocals and drums, has been gracing the musical world with their talents since 2006. Famous for their singles such as “Daylight,” which was featured in a Bacardi commercial and on TV shows such as Skins and Entourage, the band has an indie and power pop sound sure to get your head nodding.
Known for their do-it-yourself tendencies, the duo created the entire album self-producing and recording “Lightning” out of their home in Brooklyn, New York. Three days after the single release, they posted the coinciding music video on their YouTube page, which features the talents of ball handler Pat the Roc and already has almost 150,000 views.
Numerous other songs are expected to be released throughout the year, but until then we can assume that if the album is as good as it’s first single, than it’s sure to be a success.
