Brendan Benson Live From Studio X (Photo by: Zack Nechvatal)
Brendan Benson, the Michigan born and current Nashville Raconteur, stopped by the XRT studios today to talk with Frank E. Lee about his new album, What Kind of World, and his current national tour. He previewed of what’s to come at tonight’s practically sold out show at Lincoln Hall with an acoustic version of “The Light of Day” off of his latest solo record.
With the release of his fifth solo album, What Kind of World, on April 21 and the announcement of his own label, Readymade Records, 2012 has been a huge year for Benson. Young Hines was the label’s first signing and debuted with “Give Me My Change” on April 10th.
What Kinda of World features an assortment of sounds ranging from rock to country influences that highlight the melting pot of Nashville’s music scene. The album concludes on a more country sounding note with “On the Fence” which was written with country singer Ashley Monroe.
Tonight’s show at Lincoln Hall will be one of his last shows stateside for the summer — still limited tickets available!
