Rolling Stones fans waiting to hear about a new tour eagerly follow every rumor that may yield a clue regarding the group’s next move. But if waiting for a Google alert for “Stones tour” to yield some news becomes tiresome, fans can do far worse than re-watching the Stones’ 2008 concert film Shine A Light, directed by Martin Scorsese.
As chronicled in the documentary, one of the greatest moments from the show was when blues legend Buddy Guy joined the band for “Champagne and Reefer.” After the song, Keith Richards took off his guitar – one of his favorites – and gave it to Guy, a guitarist whose influence Richards has noted numerous times through the years. Richards even referred to the moment in a blurb he wrote for the back cover of Guy’s memoirs, When I Left Home: My Story. Guy didn’t actually write about the concert in the book, but told CBS Local that he’d had his eye on Keith’s axe for a while. Watch below.
Buddy Guy’s When I Left Home: My Story is in stores now. Guy is touring the U.S. tour through the fall, alongside opening act Jonny Lang.
