It’s been nine months since R.E.M. “called it a day” ending their 30 year career as one of rock’s most influential and important bands. Recently I’ve found myself in conversations with fans wondering what the next move will be for the band’s individual members. That question was answered yesterday with a preview of Peter Buck’s solo debut. Album title and release date are still to come, but he played the first song as a guest on a New Jersey radio show.
The first thing that stands out is Peter’s voice. It’s gravelly and right out of the gutter. The song is a bluesy sludge stained garage rocker with nice keyboard highlights and plenty of “ooh la las”. Plus it’s got a great 60′s psych rock title. Check out “10 Million BC”.
