Prius Route to Rock, Vol 11: Climate Cycle, Pinback, The Hundred in the Hands
What’s going on this weekend? Lots. Wanna go for a 125 mile overnight bike ride to help promote environmental education in our schools? Wanna see one of San Diego’s finest bands at Bottom Lounge? How about up-and-comers from the east coast at the Empty Bottle? Lots of options this weekend. These are just a few ideas…
Climate Cycle Ride to Recharge @ Grant Park & beyond, Saturday and Sunday, June 16 & 17
Climate Cycle has provided schools with solar systems and they promote environmental education. Seems like a pretty awesome cause, no? I mentioned above that they have a 2 day, 125 mile ride to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and back that you can take part in, but they also have a 62 mile route, 20, 10 and 4 milers too. Oh, and if you don’t want to ride you can always support the organization with a little bit of $$$. Do that here.
The Hundred in the Hands @ the Empty Bottle, Friday, June 15
THITH hail from Brooklyn and their sunthy, catchy, poppy rock ‘n’ roll will be on display at Chicago institution the Empty Bottle this Friday night. Their second album was just released this past Tuesday and you can hear a song from it below. Tix here.
Pinback @ Bottom Lounge, Sunday, June 17
A west coast band that’s been at it since 1998 makes a stop at one of our favorite venues located almost directly under the L, Bottom Lounge on Lake St. Blue Screen Life is one of my favs from the early ’00s and they’ve been on my radar ever since. The radar says that they play in Chicago this Sunday night. Tix here.
